How it worksHow our independent car buying advisory works
Buying a used car is a major financial decision. This is why we understand that you need to be informed about what happens in each stage. At ExactQuest, we follow a clear and structured research-backed process to ensure that you have all the information you need before you buy a used car.
The process below reflects our Core Advisory service which is our most popular service. The Essentials and Full Concierge services also follow the same overall process with varying levels of support and deliverables.
Whether you’ve already found a used car or you’re just beginning your search, you’ll always know what happens next.
-

Schedule your free discovery call
Every contact starts with a free consultation.
We’ll discuss your needs, budget, timeline, and where you are in the buying process, whether you’ve already found the car or not. If you have, we’ll review the details together, if you are searching, we’ll learn about what you’re looking for and explain which service works best for you.
-

Vehicle discussion
Once you’re ready to move forward with the process, we’ll start gathering the information we need to begin our research.
If you have a car in mind, show us the listing or share the vehicle details with us. With the Full concierge service, we’ll start this discussion by identifying suitable vehicles that meet your requirements before we begin the evaluation process.
From this point forward, the research process is tailored according to the package you choose.
-

Research and evaluation
This is where our engineering-based approach comes to life,
Instead of relying on assumptions and word-of-mouth, we conduct a detailed review of the used car and the market itself. Every assessment is evidence-backed which helps you understand the opportunities and potential risks before buying.
At this stage, you’ll receive your ExactQuest Assessment Report supported by research and analysis.
This report may include:
Vehicle history analysis
Market price benchmarking
Mechanical risk assessment
Greater Boston market considerations
Research specific to the vehicle's make, model, and year
Note: The Essentials service concludes when you receive your ExactQuest Assessment Report and written recommendation. Core Advisory and Full Concierge continues through the remaining steps.
-

Review your recommendations
Once your assessment is complete, we talk through the findings.
You’ll receive a straightforward recommendation based on our research and if the vehicle has a good value, we’ll explain why. If our research brings up concerns, we’ll explain those and give you the information you need to decide whether to proceed, negotiate, or continue searching.
-

Negotiation support
If you've selected our Core Advisory or Full Concierge package, the support continues beyond the research.
After the review, we’ll help you prepare for conversations with the seller, explain common dealership tactics, and offer guidance during the negotiation process. For full concierge clients, we take a more active role by coordinating the buying process on your behalf.
-

Post-purchase support
Support does not end once you've agreed to buy the vehicle.
We also include a review of financing and purchase documents before you sign, helping you understand what you're agreeing to. Eligible clients also receive a 30-day follow-up after their purchase to answer questions and provide additional guidance if needed.
